Dancing

Girls,

Dancing is not my favorite thing.  It's not that I don't like dancing but I can't dance and I am embarrassed to be in front of people.  Because of that I force myself to get out with you girls at live music shows and dance. I want you to feel confident and not care who's watching.

Today we went to see Sara Hickman at Zilker Botanical Gardens.  You both have been listening to her as your "bedtime music" since you were born.  Here's a couple pictures from the day and some from 5 years ago when Kallie first met Sara Hickman.  On the way to the show Kallie, you said, "Sara Hickman knows me."

Kallie is Two Years Older Than Maryn...Most of the TIme

Kallie, you are two years older than Mayrn. Actually you are 1 year and 10 months older.  This causes a lot of confusion because Maryn's birthday comes before yours. So right now you are 6 and Maryn is 5.  Maryn loves to bring this up a few times a day which leads to failed attempts by  me to explain why you are "1 year" a part right now. Generally I can explain things and get them across, but I have completely failed on this one.

Today we decided to all agree, and this is straight from you Kallie, "Kallie is two years older than Maryn...most of the time."

Looking forward to April 25th when everything gets back to normal.

New Things

I love to watch you girls try new things. It is difficult and frustrating but you always push through.
This was your first day on your skateboard. I have no doubt you will be riding it to kindergarten next year.

Today we planted the vegetable garden.  Here's a few pictures from today and when Kallie was 1 and 2 years old.

Gatar

Your Mom send me this note while I was working a 48. A 48 is when I work two shifts back to back and away from home for two days. This really caught me off guard and is the sweetest thing I have ever read.

Both of you girls see me as the "best Dad ever," but I honestly have a lot of work of to do.  This blog mostly highlights all of our good times but there I many times that I get mad, I raise my voice, or even yell at you girls.  I try to constantly remind myself that no matter how I treat you, you will probably see me as the "best Dad ever" because I am all you know as a Dad and also how a man should treat you.

My goal as your Dad, and I fall short, is one day long from now, when you start seriously dating to be able to say, "You should find someone that treats you as good as or better than I treat you." If I yell at you, don't give you my time, and treat you poorly, that will be your expectation and that is what you will find.

I cannot explain how much I love and adore you girls and I am sorry that I don't always show it.  I will continue to work on being a better Father and model of how you should be treated later in life.

Rodeo and Personalities

Tonight we went ot rodeo and you girls were night and day different. Maryn watched every second of the rodeo and cheered the whole time.  Kallie wrote a chapter a book.

Once the music stated Kallie was in Heaven and Maryn wanted to go home.  I love watching your personalities change and grow over time.

Best Friends

This post is just record your best friends.  I don't know if you will be friends for life or if you will never hang out again.  Either way, I want you to have the memory.

Maryn, this is Lorelie from Council Oak.  You girls are inseparable.  You even have cheeta pants Mondays where you both wear the same pants.  Next year you will be going to different schools.

Kallie, this is Katie, you also met her at Coucil Oak and really hit it off together.  You are both really good for each other and make a great pair.  After Council Oak, you also went to different schools but managed to keep close.

Children's Museum

Kallie,

I've made a couple of recent posts about Maryn Daddy Days which reminded me of Kallie Daddy Days.  Before you were even one, when Mom went back to work and there was no Maryn, we had many days together.  One of my best memories was going to the Children's Museum downtown.  We would go about every two weeks to the "Baby Day." The first picture is you in front of the museum. The rest of the pictures are from August when you and your sister went.

I will track down some more pictures from Kallie Daddy Days.

Another Maryn Daddy Day

This is to follow up to the "Day with Maryn" post below.  Here's another Maryn Daddy day from October. Train ride to downtown.

Deep Thoughts from Maryn

"So...how was the first baby born if there was no one to work in the hospital"

Day with Maryn

Maryn,

Today we had another great Maryn Daddy day.  One of the best things about my job is having weekdays off to spend with my family.  Since you are not in kindergarten yet this gives us a lot of time to hang out.  Sadly we only have a few more months until you will start  kindergarten and are days off together will be very limited.

You are best hang out partner.  Sometimes we are just running errands and sometimes we go to the park or Children's Museum.  The amazing thing about you Maryn is that either way you are just as happy and fun to be around.

This is what we did today...

1) We went to Station 14 to pick up Mike Heeney.
2) You went with us to a meeting and sat on the ground coloring. You got a donut with red icing.
3) You got to hang out with the Fire Chief and wear her helmet.
4) We went to the training academy and we climb the tower.
5) You picked In and Out Burger and we had lunch.
6) We visited Station 18 to pick up t-shirts.
7) We rode bikes to pick up you sister.

I am going to miss these days with you!
