Reading books for Jason and Nicole

Tonight after supper Jason asked if we would like to come by. We were about to read booksb do we just headed over there to read.

You girls did great and you made her laugh after a long day at the surgery center. I know you brought joy into their house and that makes me happy. I hope you both learn to pick people up when they are down and to have a caring heart.

You made Jason read "A Book with No Pictures", which is a funny book to have an adult read.

Care package for Nicole

Nicole had knee surgery today so you girls put a care package together for her. Maryn really wanted this pillow for her knee and I just couldn't refuse. Sweet girls.

Special Place

There are thousands of amazing places and people in the world. Today if I could be anywhere (well, other than one place) I would be right here. This is a natural greenbelt area on our usual bike ride. I enjoy getting off the sidewalk and out in nature. This is where I want to be. 

Sadly this area will be a four lane road in a few years, but for now we will take full advantage of it

Mary Poppins

Tonight we went to Round Rock High School's Mary Poppins. Kallie, you love musicals but Maryn is pretty indifferent. We drove two cars because we knew Maryn wouldn't make it. Sure enough Maryn was asleep by intermission so we headed home while Mom and Kallie stayed all the way through.

Mornings

Some mornings we attack the day, we go to church, we go school, we go on bike rides. But some mornings, we just get by.

Girls Win!

Every Friday Kallie's teacher takes the whole class out to play soccer, girls vs boys. Parents are allowed to play so several weeks ago I showed up. I wasn't really playing hard, I just passed the ball around and tried to get everyone involved. Towards the end of the game the boys were winning and one of them said, "the girls always lose because boys are stronger than girls." This statement pissed me of a little but I turned around and saw all the girls with their heads down and I was infuriated. I started playing hard against these 7 year old boys but there wasn't enough time to catch up. The girls lost again and they walked away hanging their heads.

That statement made me angry, but it mainly upset me because I saw the impact it had on my daughter and her friends. These strong and confident girls were knocked down a bit that day. I was angry but I also know I probably said the sane thing as a kid.

Great day for a bike ride

It's the last day of Christmas vacation so we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and head out for a bike followed by jumping on the trampoline.

Star Wars

Today, on New Year's Day, we rode bikes to Jason and Nicole's. Nicole's sister and boyfriend were visiting. Last year we spent New Year's Eve with the four of them. 

Today we hung out, played games and danced to the Whip and Nae Nae. They also told us about their night watching the new movie of Star Wars. They let us borrow the first movie which is perfect for movie night.

After making and eating pizza we're watching Star Wars. You girls have had a lot of questions. So many questions that Kallie is taking notes on all the characters. Maryn is just eating ice cream.
